Lost Generation. Illustration and writing by Zach Novak. Gouache.
We are the lost generation, but so was the one before and before that, as well as that. Let's all make excuses for what we could have been and part our hair against its natural lay. Let's start a revolution for the day only to make microwave nachos and excrete the by-product of our false sunshine efforts. Let's join the world in hand, only before checking for dirt and imperfection that is of course not inherently human. Let us not into temptation, as we scan the bar for girls or guys, being guys or girls, as we dilute the daily struggle with alcoholic beverages and hope to come out pure. Let's dream so big everyone but ourselves will be proud, collecting compliments virtually as the world flaunts it's average qualities. Let's give it a 4 out of 10. Search a stimulus that will get us off better than it can. Let's never be alone. Let's be scared to be alone. Because their aren't other bodies that hold hearts, that hold minds, that hold the former's symbolism, and are willing and able to be there because in some ways we can all be same. Let's have our thoughts, that create actions, that invent beliefs, that create fights and disagreements. Blabber incoherently the fact that we know to be holier than thou, so we can pretend we aren't the lost generation, and neither was the one before that, as well as that.
